India's first Green Hydrogen hub near Vizag on track

Visakhapatnam: NTPC Green Energy Limited is finalising various packages to execute the Rs1.85 lakh Green Hydrogen Hub at Pudinadaks in Anakapalle district as per timelines set for the prestigious project.

This is India's first Green Hydrogen Hub for which the project proponent has acquired nearly 1,600 acres following an agreement with the State Government.

NTPC Simhadri Super Thermal Power Plant's Head of Project Ayaskanta Jena told the media here on Monday that package for transporting 25 tonne per day carbon dioxide from Simhadri project at Parawada to Pudimadaka has also been awarded for conversion into ethanol and sustainable aviation fuel. Initially, on an experimental basis it will be transported by trucks and later through a dedicated pipeline.

Jena said the ambitious project for which foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year is right on the track as per schedule.

Highlighting the achievements of NTPC Simhadri, he said they have ensured 100 per cent capacity utilisation of ash for ninth year in a row. The plant after the successful commissioning of Asia's largest 25 MW floating photovoltaic power plant, is now conducting a feasibility study to add another 18.75 MW.

Stating that on an average they have achieved a good Plant Load Factor (PLF), he said the war in Middle East has not impacted their raw material security due to a long-term agreement for iron ore supply from Mahanadi Coal fields Ltd in Odisha.

Jena said by spending over Rs6.2 crore during the year for CSR, Simhadri is spending huge funds to stick to the emission parameters. The company commissioned all four units of Fuel Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) at a cost of Rs 1149 crore last year.

Simhadri spent Rs110 crore on 25 MW Floating Solar Photovoltaic (FSPV) plant. Simhadri, he stayed has successfully completed drone-based corrosion mapping repairs on stage-1 of Natural Draft Cooling Tower (NDCT).
